RTF Lengthens its Recoiler Warranty by 3 Times

High traffic stores demand long lasting recoilers

RTF continues to innovate and at the same time provides the highest level of customer satisfaction and value.

On Monday December 19th, RTF announced its plans to extend the current recoiler warranty and guarantee the electronic/mechanical anti theft retractor for a period three times longer than previous coverage.

Bill Dandie, RTF's President states, "Recoiling tethers are notorious for short lives and causing false alarms in retail stores. RTF changes the Retail Display Security Industry again

Over the course of 15 years RTF has separated itself from the competition leading our industry in key initiatives.

In 1997, RTF patented the first modular connector, detachable sensor that made merchandising easier, reducing overall costs for the retailer. In the year 2001, RTF introduced the first universal mechanical locking claw and still to date supplies this iconic part that is reaching one million units sold. 2007 was the year of Alarm Charge where a hybrid approach of electronic and mechanical display security still provides the best value, most attractive loss prevention solution.

Today, December 1st, 2011 it will all change again... significantly. Since November 2010 RTF has been developing technology that will simplify and strengthen in store security of Smartphone and Tablets.

The team at RTF is very proud to introduce the future in device security ... App Siren. App Siren is an application loaded onto a Superphone or Tablet that becomes the alarm and renders the device useless without the proper password.

Today Smartphone theft is ridiculous and brazen thieves are stealing devices at an alarming rate, but it is time to deny them the benefit and to lock the Smartphone so thieves cannot sell these stolen devices on the street illegally.

Also, App Siren alerts staff or head office of the theft via SMS or email and appropriately uses the on board camera to send photos of the environment.

App Siren is available for download today on the Android market, simply search App Siren.

Applications for Apple, Blackberry and Microsoft will be available in the first quarter of 2012.

For any questions regarding this amazing, new technology please contact our President - Bill Dandie.

Virgin Mobile relies on RTF for Smartphone and Tablet Display Security

Apple iPhone 4S
In Canada the quickly recognizable brand, Virgin Mobile is owned by the telecom giant Bell. RTF and Bell's history dates back to 1997 when RTF designed an innovative loss prevention system for Bell.

At that time store anti-theft systems where big, bulking and employed zip ties to lock the sensor down on the cell phone. RTF's introduction in to the shoplifting prevention industry started with a small and appealing recoiler and a flexible sensor that detached from the retractable tether and was the first of its kind.

This patented technology set the standard for the retail display security industry, and to this day was the first company to incorporate a detachable sensor.

Samsung Galaxy Tablet

RTF's growth has been strong since the Alarm Charge system in 2008 and now works with some of the most prestigious wireless carriers worldwide providing secure displays, charge, alarm and digital media via its LiftTouch technology.

RTF's sales doubled in 2011 and sets its sights on being #1 by 2014.

Its success is attributed to delivering what global customers demand, which is a mechanical and electronic alarm system that at any time can be locked virtually eliminating shop loss.

Currently RTF supplies its patent pending Alarm Charge system to secure, attractively display and power the Apple iPhone 4 S and the Samsung Galaxy Tablet at Virgin Mobile all across Canada.

Smarter Software means less False Alarms in Retail Stores

Sydney, Australia
False alarms not only desensitize staff to the intent of the electronic line alarms, to alert store employees of shoplifting, but customers also are seriously inconvenienced.

It's hard to enter a Best Buy in Canada, the Carphone Warehouse in the UK or a Dick Smith's in Australia and not hear multiple merchandise alarms echoing while you shop.

The sound of these annoying beeps are mostly caused by honest customers simply lifting displayed Smartphones and Tablets only to be surprised by an alarming sound. On occasion this has happened to me and I look at everyone around me pleading my innocence.

Recently an RTF employee brought his 6 year old son to a neighborhood store and explained what Daddy does at work. The electronics shop had competitor's equipment and he describes, "Daddy sells sensors that attach to products on display and if a theft is attempted, the alarms sounds". My friend picks up the closest display, setting off the alarm and his 6 year old cries out "Daddy are you stealing it!!!"

This is a serious issue in our industry not only because store employees have no faith in the annoyance but customers are negatively affected by the overall store experience.

Throughout the last 14 years, RTF has introduced technologies to reduce false alarms and intends by 2014 to reach a 0% false alarm and a 100% customer and

We are moving quickly towards the goal, and one of our current innovations has incorporated a "spinning head" to alleviate any cable strain in the recoiler, therefore greatly increasing its life. Also we will be introducing Smart Alarming in early 2012 that will use intelligent firmware to manage false alarms.

Our intent is to reduce all the noise and increase the customer experience while giving the store staff faith again. Watch us... we are transforming vision.

A simple solution to lock down Superphones and stop retail shoplifting

Picking up Smartphone
RTF has thousands of installations worldwide using the innovative Alarm Charge retail security system. This effective loss prevention display solution allows the customer to interact with a live, powered Superphone while it's attractively merchandised and secured.

Within the system a recoiler offers full, unencumbered product interaction enhancing the customer buying experience through the ability to lift the Android, Apple or Blackberry to a comfortable position.

Interacting on display
A trend is emerging where customers are content to no longer pick up the mobile phone, but investigate the new Smartphone technology while the device remains seated on display.

RTF has introduced a technique to greatly reduce theft and still provide customers what they want... a live, functioning Smartphone to play with.

Quick connect cable stop
With a simple cable clamp, the end user can bypass the recoiler and easily stop the cable from retracting, therefore essentially locking the Smartphone in place.

This flexible solution is trouble-free, doesn't harm the cable and clips on and off in seconds.

All of RTF's satisfied customer base can now choose between the full lift of the recoiler or the lock down advantage.

Cable locked into position by
the clamp
The new locking cable clamp works with our line of electronic and mechanical recoilers, mounts and brackets.

In order to increase security and reduce cable cutting or disconnection, this Smartphone locking technique is simple, secure and very cost effective.

Mobile Phone, Smart Phone and now Super Phone Retail Shoplifting Prevention

Technology circa 1997

Back in 1997, when RTF first offered loss prevention systems to reduce shoplifting in retail stores we developed a solution for Bell Canada. During that period the first digital cell phone was being launched and RTF was entrusted to supply the display security alarm to protect the new cell phone technology while on display.

From that point, RTF was born and Bell alongside RTF continue to work closely battling theft in their retail locations across Canada.

Palm Pilot
Shortly after the launch of the new digital technology, the PDA [Personal Digital Assistant], notably the Palm Pilot was one of the first digital methods to track our calender and contacts.

Most of us for years carried a cell phone, PDA, camera and MP3 player...then the Smartphone changed all that.

Smartphones like the iPhone or devices offered by Blackberry, Motorola, LG and Samsung now combine the parts and provide all of our tech needs in the palm of one hand.

Since the arrival of Smartphones, RTF launched an intelligent system - Alarm Charge. This retail display security system powers the Smartphone and provides a safe, constant charge allowing positive customer interaction in stores.

Alarm Charge secures the Smartphone with industry leading pre theft technology and smart alarming where intuitive software calculates whether the alarm occurrence is a valid theft or a false alarm.

Adding to the Alarm Charge system, Lift Touch enhances the customer experience, permitting digital media content to be streamed to LCD Monitors aiding in the engagement of users and ultimately the sales conversion.

Samsung Galaxy S II
2011 is the Year of the "Super Phone" ... So what is a Super Phone? Google may have latched onto the term, but the concept of a "superphone" is simply a description of an even smarter Smartphone that combines cutting-edge features that mobile phone users and technologists alike want. For example: faster processors, bigger, more clear screens, higher pixel digital cameras and therefore longer lasting batteries.

We have recognized this trend for quite some time and instead of reacting to our clients needs RTF Global and its subsidiaries, such as RTF Europe, are prepared to assist worldwide retailers with active solutions to help reduce shoplifting and promote sales in their stores.

Through the RTF Superphone Security Solution, Super phones are securely displayed in a manner that attract customers and sales and deter thieves and theft.

Samsung Galaxy PC Tablets are safe from shoplifting worldwide

Recent European installation
The Samsung PC Tablet, the Galaxy seems to be the strong second place contender to the Apple iPad.

RTF works with Samsung all around the world helping their resellers safely place fully functional, charged PC Tablets in front of customers.

Theft of expensive Tablets is increasing and RTF has developed a hybrid solution to positively promote the live, powered Tablet while protecting it from shoplifting or theft.
Vise3 X Locking Bracket

The mechanical advantage of the four arm locking claws ensures a strong defensive against "Grab and Run" type thefts.

RTF's mechanically electronic recoiler allows full customer interaction and free range of use so the buying experience is heightened. The strong mechanical nature of the recoiler, coupled with the electronic alarm properties of pre theft catch thieves before products are stolen.

When the system needs to be set at a higher "Def-Con" security level, RTF's innovative, secure and cost effective solution, Lift Act can be implemented quickly. Lift Act is a "limited lift" solution that provides free movement of the Smartphone or Tablet. Customers can pick up the consumer electronic and lift it marginally reducing the interactivity level slightly while greatly increasing security, longevity and reducing costs.

RTF's loss prevention system now incorporates a lock down option so that at any time, the user can fasten the locking claw of the Vise3 into the display fixture. This provides the highest level of Tablet or Smartphone anti-theft protection but reduces the customer experience.

Nearly 30,000 pulls tested with the new RTF Mechanical and Electronic Recoiler

New, on board Micro USB for direct
plug Mech Charge
The newly redesigned mechanical and electronic aircraft cable cord minder includes an on board Micro USB charging port, integrated mounting tab, and greatly improved durability and longevity.

RTF recently tested the new electronic retractable tether and found the results to indicate a strong increase in the number of pulls over earlier versions.

Recoilers are installed behind retail store displays and through constant customer interaction, recoilers undergo extreme conditions and therefore have a tendency to wear and break down leading to false alarms along with customer and staff frustration.

RTF Recoiler Tester
The engineering team at RTF recently overhauled the recoiler and reviewed the use of longer lasting, highly conductive materials. Our manufacturing team also developed techniques to ensure consistency through the production process resulting in excellent testing data.

Close to 30K pulls
A pull testing machine that trials three recoilers simultaneously was used to determine retracting and returning rates. A track attached to a pneumatic rod provides the simulated environment of a retail store and the initial results are very encouraging. [Watch the YouTube video of the machine at 20,000 mark].

At the high end, the new recoiler lasted nearly 30,000 cycles and only through a mechanical condition stopped to operate.

v By introducing innovative software incorporated in our next generation alarm and charging hubs, the recoilers will last longer as well as cause far less irritation in retail stores for staff and customers.

Also to ensure complete customer satisfaction and value, RTF is considering to offer a second replacement cartridge with the purchase of a recoiler. That means the recoiler life will in essence double.
